Sally called when she got the word  
She said "I suppose you've heard about Alice" 
Well, I rushed to the window   And I looked outside
Well, I could hardly believe my eyes
As a big limousine rolled up into Alice's drive

Oh, I don't know why she's leaving or   Where she's gonna go  
I guess she's got her reasons, 
But I just don't wanna know,  
cause for twenty four years 
I've been living next door to Alice
Twenty four years just waiting for a chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance
Now I gotta get used to not living next door to Alice
(No, I'll never get used to not living next door to Alice)
We grow up together, two kids in park 
Carved our initials deep in the park,   me and Alice
Now she walks through the door with her head held high, 
Just for a moment I caught her eyes 
As a big limousine pulled slow out of Alice's drive
Then Sally called back and asked how I felt
She said "I know how to help get over Alice" 
She said, now Alice is gone but I'm still here
You know I've been waiting twenty four years. 

And the big limousine disappeared.......

샐리가 나를 부르더니 말했죠,
"엘리스 얘기 들었죠?"
나는 창가로 달려가 창박을 보았지
내눈을 의심하지 않을 수 없었어
큰 리무진이 엘리스의 집으로 들어오다니..

아, 난 그녀가 왜 떠나는지 어디로 가는지도 모르죠..
그녀대로의 이유가 있겠지만, 나는 이해할 수가 없어요.
24년 동안이나 엘리스의 이웃에 살았는데,
24년이나 내마음을 전하기위해, 눈길이 나주치기 만을 기다려 왔는데
지금은 엘리스가 떠난 것에 익숙해 져야 하네요.
(아니, 엘리스가 떠난 것이 결코 익숙해 질 것 같지 않아요.)
우리는 꼬마때부터 함께 자랐지
나와 엘리스의 이름 첫 글자를 공원 나무에 새겨 놓았죠
지금 그녀가 머리를 들고 문을 나오다
나와 눈이 잠시 마주쳤을 뿐
큰 리무진은 천천히 엘리스의 집을 떠나네
샐리가 다시 불러 기분이 어떠냐고 물었지
그녀가 말하기를 "엘리스를 잊을 수 있도록 도와줄겠요"
그녀가 말하기를, 이제 엘리스는 갔지만
난 여기 있잖아요.
24년 동안이나 당신을 기다려 왔는데...

큰 리무진이 사라졌다.
